American Properties Group was founded nearly 35 years ago in response to a need for ethical, professional commercial real estate services in the Atlanta metro area.

Corporate Responsibility

APG is a member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors. Its associates have earned Life Membership in the Board’s Million Dollar Club and have also earned the ACBR’s Phoenix Award.

APG’s associates are all members of the CCIM Institute, the world’s premier commercial real estate education and industry association.

Our firm actively supports community youth programs and activities, including the Norcross Youth Baseball Association, Boy Scouts of America, the Norcross Food Bank, and local church outreach programs.

American Properties Group, Inc. was founded in 1987 by Wesley Bacastow and Paul Chase, two of Atlanta’s most experienced land brokers. In 1992 Mr. Chase left APG to develop shopping centers throughout the Southeast, and Mr. Bacastow assumed ownership and the primary leadership role in the firm.

Over the next two and a half decades APG’s associates brokered a substantial portion of the large residential and commercial land deals in Gwinnett, Fulton, Forsyth and Dekalb counties. The firm has completed projects with many large residential developers in the Atlanta metro area including Fox Creek Properties, The Pacific Group, Jim Cowart, Inc., J.D. Brooks & Co., Seminole Development, Chatham Communities, Precision Development Group, and many others. Home builder clients include Ryland Homes, Centex Homes, Beazer Homes, Bowen Homes, D.R. Horton, Pulte Homes, Ashton Woods, and many other builders.

In 2002 APG began to diversify its service offerings into retail and industrial leasing and property management with projects throughout the Atlanta metro area.  The firm also broadened its focus to include site selection for Walgreen’s, CVS, Tractor Supply and Dollar General Stores spanning the southeastern United States.  Since 2002 APG has participated in presenting over 50 retail sites for purchase consideration by a variety of national retail chains in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, North Carolina and Florida.

In 2010 APG’s co-founder and long-time CEO, Wes Bacastow passed ownership and day-to-day management of the firm to Randal Tart, who has served as Vice President and Associate Broker since joining the firm in 2001.
